Start groups targeted to those who share your interests and become friends with the group members. It'll be much easier to make friends with someone who shares a mutual interest in the things you do,than a complete and total stranger.
Unless you're really sure of what you're doing,be literate.People who actually type out their words and sentences are liked much more on many chatrooms and forums.Typing "1ik3 7hi5" or "Not typng out ur wrds nd sentnces" is not only annoying, and immature looking, but can cause you to begin to think like that, and that is not a good mindset of how to type in.You wouldn't like to accidently include "1337 5P43K" in an important assignment, would you?
Think of a creative username.Try not to have random numbers at the end of your username,as it looks tacky, and is difficult to remember.Numbers that actually mean something are okay.Eg:143,or the year you made the username (06,07,08,09).
Many people are not who they reveal themselves to be,and therefore, giving out information may be dangerous not only to you,but to anyone occupying the household/work area.
Try to visualise the person you are talking to by what they are saying. If it's strange, leave this person.
It's okay to instill some trust in online friends, but don't make yourself vulnerable to attack.Be safe about how you're choosing your friends.
Do not make plans to meet anyone you meet online on your own, always meet in a public place, take a friend or family member, choose somewhere public and make sure someone else knows .
You may not be allowed to go on these site because of parental or boss guidelines.
If the person is insulting you or harassing you, save the conversation or copy all the words.See if you can report it to someone on the website. If you are underage, tell your parent or another responsible adult what's been going on.
