ZURICH,Sept 18 (Reuters) - Orders to the Swiss industry,a
leading indicator of industrial production,rose 11.7 percent in
the second quarter from a year earlier,the Swiss Federal
Statistics Office said on Tuesday.
Industrial production rose 9.8 percent against the previous
year,while orders on hand increased 22.3 percent.
ECONOMISTS' COMMENTS:
HOLGER SCHMIEDING - BANK OF AMERICA
"Industrial output (is) very strong at 9.8 percent year over
year and Swiss orders also very,very strong.That was the time
when the Swiss economy and the euro zone economy were really on
fire and it shows.It will have not impact however on the SNB
deliberations who now focus on very different things."
"What we can see from the orders is that it is likely the
economy will still have a lot of momentum in the third quarter,
working off these orders,but what comes after that is anybody's
guess at the moment."
"The next rate decision is likely to be there is no further
change in the rate for at least quite a while now."
